PRODUCT REVIEWS: NATURAL DEODORANT & SUPERFOOD PROTEINS

It's a sweet life, being a relatively popular blogger: I get swag (although it's up for debate whether or not I HAVE swag... hashtag swag). I'll stop now.

Today I'm reviewing a couple products I've been lucky enough to be sent, by two equally cool companies. I think in the times of today - where media, politics and the economy are controlled by a handful of giant corporations who's only motivation is dollar signs - it is of primary importance that we vote with our wallet and choose to support companies and people who care about the real well-being of others and the environment. Here are a couple examples.

First, I need to rave about deodorant. Years ago, after learning about the toxic horrors of mainstream deodorant; I immediately started buying aluminum-free, natural brands (although keep in mind a lot of those can't be trusted either). The same thing happened with toothpaste and shampoo. Then, I progressed further into naturopathic/hippie land and began making my OWN deodorant, toothpaste and shampoo.

For toothpaste, I simply dip my brush in water and then baking soda and go at it. For shampoo and conditioner, I just use baking soda and apple cider vinegar. For deodorant, I whipped together a blend of coconut oil, baking soda and essential oils to make me smell delicious and fresh. You know I do.

Then I learned of a company called North Coast Organics that sells exactly what I make at home. Seriously - the ingredients list is identical. Bonus: the deodorant comes in an adorable little container and I get to support an amazing, compassionate, sustainability-focused company by buying it! I don't have to make my own anymore! I have been using what they sent me (the mini ones) for weeks now and I will say this: I've been quite intimate with a few people and I have only received compliments on my irresistible scent. MWAHAHA. Oh, coconut oil: what can't you do? Buy some. For realz.

Next product up for review is a blend of "superfood proteins" from a classy organization based in Cali called Beaming. They're all about clean, organic, happy living... and I dig that. I also dig the protein blend! Or rather, I sip it. It's fabulous in green smoothies and packs a serious nutritional punch. It's an excellent addition to my post-workout meal. Check out all the life-giving ingredients in the pic below (under those sexy kale leaves...mmm, kale).

It makes my smoothies taste like vanilla and cinnamon because the blend is flavoured with them. Duh. Anyway - this makes for one delicious drink and keeps me focused and energized for hours. My body sings! No - it BEAMS! See what I did there? Who wants whey when you can have toxin-free, unrefined, natural, plant-based goodness!? Nobody I know. Buy it here
